About

My name is Sameet.  I finished my PhD in Zoology in July 2009.  I am currently a visiting post-doctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute of the National Health Institutes in Bethesda, Maryland.  I work in a Fission Yeast Epigenetics group.  The primary focus of our group is study of mechanisms that regulate the epigenetic inheritance especially the heterochromatin in yeast, and its role in regulation of transcription.  My specific role in the lab is that of a Bioinformatician.  I am the one person core for our group as far as bioinformatics is concerned.  I do a lot of high-throughput sequence analysis, and also take care of our MiSeq sequencer.  Our group primarily works on small-RNA sequencing with a fair bit of RNA-Seq, ChIP-seq and their variations.  Currently I am also working on a project that involves a lot of HiC data analysis.
